MASTERPLAN | QUINTA DA MIGALHA

INTRO
The intervention is based on the concept of "inhabiting the green" and aims to revitalize the natural space by creating an urban environment that preserves its sound, visual, and environmental characteristics, while reinterpreting human activities and functions in a contemporary image.
The pursuit of the concept is promoted by generating an urban design with an atmosphere that fosters a smooth transition between nature and the urban environment, creating a relaxed and integrative connection between the individual and nature. This process led to the preservation of significant tree cover and the emphasis on the water element.
The articulation of the concept with the reality of the surrounding built space led to the search for axes of continuity and the filling of gaps in the constructed fabric. This was done in such a way that the new and carefully designed urban layout established an interrelationship between public spaces (streets, squares, gardens, and parks), which emerged in regular or organic forms with special characteristics to reinforce the image of diversity. These features guide the population toward green corridors, watercourses, and attractive topographical movements that encourage walking, with the goal of discouraging the use of automobiles.
